    Community Auditions: About the Show
TV's Longest Running Talent Show is Back!

In 1987, after 37 years of being on the air, Community Auditions became the longest running entertainment TV show in history. Since the earliest days of radio, and later television, talent shows and competitions have always been popular. Today, some of the most relevant trends in TV programming are talent competitions of all kinds, from "So You Think Can Dance" to "The Apprentice" and, of course, "American Idol". It should be no surprise, then, that the longest running talent program in history was Community Auditions. In spring 2007, after a 20 year hiatus, one of New England's all-time favorite TV shows returned as Community Auditions: Star of the Day, lighting up TVs from Maine to Connecticut and Provincetown to Lake Champlain.
